SYNTHESIS

The moderator, François Renard (Allen & Overy), introduced the panelists and allotted each of them time to make opening remarks.

Dr. Lilla Csorgo (Charles River Associates) discussed merger analysis in the digital economy. First, she noted that competition authorities have been criticized for their failure to recognize acquisitions that are so-called “killer acquisitions” and for not adequately recognizing mergers that result in a lessening of competition due to an overlap of assets, particularly in data, which might raise barriers to entry and expansion.
