Synthesis

Joshua Soven started his intervention by stressing that the actions of competition authorities are constantly covered around the world. He observed a tendency to conclude that enforcement actions constitute the bulk of the impact of competition law. Mr Soven explained that, however, most of the reality of antitrust does not come from investigations and enforcement actions that make the headlines but from the particular actions of companies and individuals deciding that they will promote a culture of competition. To do so, they rely on compliance guidelines issued by competition authorities. Recognising this, competition authorities have made a material change to their compliance frameworks to ensure that they remain relevant.
