The Moldovan Competition Authority investigates predatory pricing on the mobile telecommunications market (Orange Moldova)

In 2011 the Moldovan Competition Authority (CC) [1] received a complaint lodged by the incumbent telecom operator Moldtelecom SA alleging the existence of an abuse of dominant position on the mobile telecommunications market committed by IS Orange-Moldova SA. The applicant submitted that Orange-Moldova organized a promotional campaign offering new prepaid customers a bonus of MDL 3000, which could be used for calls, SMS and MMS within Orange-Moldova network. The promotional campaign lasted for two months and in order to benefit from the promotional bonus the prepaid customers had to spend MDL 300 during one year on their prepaid account.
