The Moldovan Competition Authority holds that Competition Act does not apply to the decision of the Parliament (Banca de Economii)

On 16 May 2014, the Moldovan competition authority (CC) [1], completed an examination of the complaint submitted by six private banks [2] concerning the decision of the Parliament [3] to transfer the banking operations of all state institutions and state-owned undertakings to the state-owned bank Banca de Economii SA [4]. The CC refused its competence over the matter pointing to the limitations of the scope of the 2012 Competition Act [5].
