The Competition Authority of Bosnia & Herzegovina addresses anti-competitive regulations in the regional market for medicines reimbursed under national health insurance system (Cantonal Government of Zenica-Doboj and the Cantonal Health Insurance Office of Zenica-Doboj)

On 28 February 2012 the Competition Authority of Bosnia & Herzegovina (KV) [1] established that the Cantonal Government of Zenica-Doboj (Ze-Do Government) [2] and the Cantonal Health Insurance Office of Zenica-Doboj (Ze-Do Office) [3] by adopting a series of sector-specific regulations have restricted competition on the market for medicines reimbursed under the national health insurance system. The KV’s investigation was prompted by the complaint of a private pharmacy, which was engaged in the retail trade of the medicines reimbursed under the national health insurance system. In order to receive the reimbursement for the medicines provided to the customers covered by the national health insurance all pharmacies had to conclude the reimbursement agreements with the regional health
