Services of general economic interest: Crédit Mutuel decision - not overcompensated* This article concerns the Commission’s assessment of a service of general economic interest (SGEI) in the banking sector, namely the decision closing the formal investigation of Crédit Mutuel‘s Livrets Bleusavings accounts. Introduction In its decision of 24 May 2011 (hereinafter "the closing decision"), the Commission ruled that the bank Crédit Mutuel was not overcompensated for collecting funds to finance social housing. The collection of deposits was made through distribution of the Livret Bleu account in France.
