"Commission proposes change to Transparency Directive"* The Commission has accepted on 30 March 1999 a draft amendment to the so-called Transparency Directive 80/723/CEE [1]. This Directive in its present form [2] allows the Commission to investigate into the financial relations between Member States and public undertakings. It requires the public authorities to deliver information on an annual basis for enterprises in the manufacturing sector and on request by the Commission for other enterprises.
