MERGERS: COMMISSION APPROVES ACQUISITION OF SIGMA-ALDRICH BY MERCK, SUBJECT TO CONDITIONS * The European Commission has approved the proposed acquisition of Sigma-Aldrich by Merck under the EU Merger Regulation. Both companies are active world-wide in the life science sector. The decision is conditional on the divestment of certain Sigma-Aldrich assets, including manufacturing assets in Germany, the rights to certain brands and a sales force.
