The Bulgarian Competition Commission fines a group for abusing its stronger bargaining position (BTV Media)

Summary: On February 28, 2017 the Bulgarian Commission on Protection of Competition sanctioned BTV Media Group [1] for abuse of stronger bargaining position as per Article 37a [2] of the Bulgarian Protection on Competition Act. BTV Media Group is part of Central European Media Enterprises [3] (2010-present), and is reportedly the Bulgarian television channel with the largest viewing audience. It was previously owned by Balkan News Corporation (2000-2010), part of News Corporation. The provision of Article 37a (adopted in July 2015) prohibits any act or omission of an undertaking having a stronger bargaining position, which is contrary to the good commercial practice and harms or may harm the interests of the weaker contractual party and the interests of the consumers.
