The Italian Competition Authority conditionally clears a merger between two pay tv operators (Sky / R2)

By its decision in Sky/R2 the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) has conditionally authorized a merger between two pay TV operators [1]. The parties executed the merger before the ICA concluded its assessment on the competition impact of the transaction. And because the merger was found to restrain competition in the pay TV markets, the ICA required the parties to implement a set of behavioural and access remedies.
