The French Competition Authority unconditionally clears a merger between two real estate online platforms (Axel Springer / Concept Multimédia)

On 1st February 2018, the French Competition Authority (“FCA”) unconditionally cleared in Phase II proceedings the planned acquisition of sole control of French company Concept Multimédia - which owns the real estate online platform Logic-Immo.com - by German group Axel Springer - which owns the competing online platform SeLoger.com [1]. The transaction, which leads to the takeover by the leading real estate online advertising platform (SeLoger.com) of the third market player (Logic-Immo.com), required an in-depth examination by the FCA [2], which notably surveyed more than 30,000 real estate agencies through an online questionnaire.
