The French Competition Authority grants interim measures regarding online advertising system (Google / Navx)

In a decision dated 30 June 2010, the French Competition Authority (the "Competition Authority") has considered that Google had implemented the content policy of its AdWords service in a way that lacked objectivity and transparency and resulted in a discriminatory treatment of speed camera database suppliers. As a result, it ordered Google to clarify the scope of its AdWords service and to restore its online advertising contract with Navx, originator of the complaint. A full investigation is currently being carried on and a decision on the merits is pending. However, the Competition Authority may decide to end the proceedings if the market test confirms that the four commitments proposed by Google on 13 July 2010 in reply to the Competition Authority's injunctions are providing
