The Turkish Competition Board finds that a price beating guarantee given to consumers by a supermarket falls outside competition law (Carrefour)

Acting on complaints, the Turkish Competition Board (TCB) found that the advertising campaign of Carrefour SA (Carrefour Group Turkey) which gives consumers a price guarantee, promising to refund ten times the difference if they find the same product they purchased at Carrefour SA at a cheaper price elsewhere, to fall outside the scope of competition law. The claim in the complaints was that consumers were being misled due to the difficulties in making use of the campaign which guaranteed to pay “10 times the difference”. According to the complaints, Carrefour SA guaranteed to pay consumers ten times the difference in price if they purchased exactly the same product they purchased at a Carrefour SA shop
