The Italian Competition Authority condemns a local association of pharmacies for price-fixing arrangements regarding the retail prices of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals (Federfarma Teramo)

The Italian Competition Authority (ICA) fined Federfarma Teramo, an association regrouping pharmacies located in the province of Teramo, Central Italy, for fixing the retail prices of a number of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals via a circular detailing the maximum discounts applicable to each product. The ICA investigation and decision The ICA opened investigation upon receipt of an anonymous letter. The letter reported that a circular written on a Federfarma Teramo headed paper containing a table of the maximum discounts pharmacy members are invited to apply to 119 OTC pharmaceuticals was circulating among the pharmacies of the province of Teramo.
