The Danish Competition Authority accepts commitments in relation to a Radio Access Network sharing agreement between two telecom operators (Telia / Telenor)

On 29 February 2012, the Danish Competition Council accepted commitments offered by two Nordic telecom operators in connection with a notification of an agreement by which the two telecom operators combined their respective Radio Access Network in a joint venture. Background Telia Sonera AB (“Telia”) and Telenor A/S (“Telenor”) are two Nordic telecom operators which, inter alia, offer mobile telephony and mobile broadband [1] in Denmark. Telia and Telenor each owned a nationwide mobile network consisting of masts, antennas, transmission connections, core network, software applications, etc. There are four mobile network operators in Denmark: TDC, Telenor, Telia and Hi3G (“3”).
