The Lithuanian Competition Authority fines two retailers for imposing unfair conditions on their food and drinks suppliers (Norfos mazmena / Rivona)

On January 24 2014 Competition Council of the Republic of Lithuania (LCC) fined two retailers - Norfos Mažmena, UAB Norfa, UAB (Norfa) and Rivona, UAB (Rivona) – for establishing provisions in their wholesale and purchase agreements which failed to comply with the requirements of the Law on the Prohibition of Unfair Practices of Retailers of the Republic of Lithuania (the Law of Unfair Practices of Retailers). The joint fined for both companies amounted to LTL 90 000 (approx. EUR 26 000). The purpose of the Law of Unfair Practices of Retailers is to limit the use of market power by retailers having significant market power and ensure the balance of interests between suppliers and retailers with significant market
