The Romanian Competition Authority prosecutes five auto repairers for fixing the man/hour rates (Simerv - Selena Impex)

On 17 June 2010 the Romanian Competition Authority (CC) [1] found five auto repairers in Slobozia, the capital city of the Ialomita county, liable for infringement of the national equivalent of the Article 101 TFEU for fixing their man-hour rates. In its decision the CC stated that the market for auto repair services can be segmented according to the type of service (repair work) offered by auto repairers because they are not substitutable for the consumers. However, since the present case concerned the fixing of man-hour rates applicable to all kinds of repair services irrespective of their nature, the CC defined the relevant product as auto repair services.
