The UK Office of Fair Trading accepts for the first time binding commitments following a Competition Act 1998 investigation (TV Eye)

1. Introduction In this Decision, the Office of Fair Trading ("OFT") accepted for the first time binding commitments following a Competition Act 1998 ("1998 Act") investigation [1]. The investigation related to possible infringements of Chapter I and Chapter II of the 1998 Act [2]. The commitments offered by TV Eye Limited ("TV Eye") and its member broadcasters involved the amendment of certain arrangements regarding the sale of advertising airtime. The OFT, following a formal public consultation and referral to the European Commission, considered that the proposed commitments addressed all competition concerns raised during the investigation. 2.
