The Lithuanian NCA fines members of the paper cartel (Schneidersöhne Baltija)

On 26 October 2006 the Lithuanian Competition Council (CC) adopted a decision finding five wholesalers of paper in breach of Article 81 EC and its national equivalent (Article 5 of the Law on Competition) for their engagement in exchanging data on their market shares. The combined fines imposed on the members of the paper cartel equalled LTL 680,880 (approx. EUR 197,196), with UAB Schneidersöhne Baltija receiving more than one third of the total amount (LTL 235,330). Other firms - UAB Antalis Lietuva, UAB Libra Vitalis, UAB Lukas and UAB MAP Lietuva - were given smaller sums : LTL 66,840, LTL 194,850, LTL 22,730 and, LTL 161,130, respectively. According to the CC's press release, the investigation started on the CC's own initiative and covered information exchange activities from 1999
