The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority clears a merger in the publishing and book retail market (Bonnier / Stockmann)

The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) has cleared a merger where Bonnier Books Retail Finland, part of the Bonnier group, is acquiring the business operations of Academic Bookstore from department store operator Stockmann. Bonnier is a major publishing house which is also involved in retail sales of books through online and traditional bookstores. The FCCA states that the acquisition will not significantly impede effective competition in the Finnish market or a substantial part of it – the product markets were not fully defined for the purposes of reaching this decision [1].
