The Colombian Competition Authority issues an administrative ruling against a trade association for abuse of dominance in the purchase and commercialization of foot-and-mouth disease vaccines (FEDEGAN)

The case The Colombian Competition Authority (Superintendency of Industry and Commerce - SIC) issued an administrative ruling against the National Federation of Cattle Ranchers (Federación Nacional de Ganaderos, FEDEGAN) the sector's most important Trade Association for abuse of dominance in the purchase and commercialization of Foot-and-mouth disease vaccines. Since Colombia has opted for vaccination against the Foot-and-mouth decease and the past vaccination efforts have repeatedly failed, in the 90's the government implemented a fully fledged regulated program of which one of its main aspect was a public-private partnership between the phytosanitary authority (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario – ICA), the provincial cattle ranchers trade associations and FEDEGAN, the nationwide
