The Italian Competition Authority clears a merger in the financial sector with structural and behavioural remedies (UniCredito Italiano / Capitalia)
The operation
The ICA cleared the merger by which UniCredito Italiano (UCI) will absorb Capitalia, which will cease to exist as legal entity. UCI is an international bank based in Italy and listed on the Milan stock exchange. It offers a wide range of banking and financial services in several European countries, including retail and corporate banking services as well as investment banking and asset management services. Capitalia is one of the major Italian banking groups active in several sectors including retail and corporate banking services, as well as financial and insurance services.
