The German Bundeskartellamt cleared a merger in the market for the production of asphalt mix subject to remedies, including the divestiture of a shareholding in a joint venture (Strabag/AMH)

The operation The operations covered by this case comprised acquisitions by Strabag AG (“Strabag”) of businesses, shareholdings and assets involved in the production of ready-mix asphalt. Strabag is the German subsidiary (66%) of Strabag SE and plays a leading role in the road construction business in Germany. The first transaction, with Deutag GmbH & Co KG (“Deutag”) was a consequence of then pending procedures of case B 1 - 169/05 FIMAG/Züblin. In this, Strabag responded to the Bundeskartellamt's concerns by offering the divestiture of its shares in Deutag and the unbundling of its joint ventures with Werhahn Group in the area of Chemnitz (SAM, CAW, AAL).
