The upcoming reform of Serbian competition law: A necessary step towards closer approximation with EU law

Abstract The adoption of the Law on protection of competition in September 2005 was an important phase in the development of Serbian competition law. For the first time in the Serbian legal system, the Law introduced rules on protection of competition based on European Union law standards. However, the first two years of its application revealed some deficiencies, especially as regards anticompetitive agreements, control of concentrations and rules of procedure before the Serbian Commission for protection of competition. The Proposal of Law Amending the Law on protection of competition, which is to be adopted soon, is likely to reduce or eliminate most of these deficiencies. 1.
