The Italian Competition Authority condemns a plastic supply chain consortium for abuse in the plastic-waste recycling sector (Corepla)

On 27 October 2020, the Italian Competition Authority (“ICA”) imposed a fine of around € 27.4 million on COREPLA (the “Consortium for the collection, recycling and recovery of plastic packaging waste”) for abusing its dominant position on the national market for services for PET packaging producers relating to the compliance with their obligations under EU environmental law.
