The Hungarian Competition Authority fines undertakings operating in the milling industry for their participation in national cartel (Mills cartel)

The Gazdasági Versenyhivatal (GVH – Hungarian Competition Authority) imposed a fine of HUF 2.3 billion (Approx. EUR 8.4 million) on 16 Hungarian undertakings active in the milling industry due to their participation in a hard-core cartel fixing prices and sharing markets. The undertakings that were fined committed a single, continuous and complex infringement that lasted between February 2005 and April 2008, and had the object of restricting competition on the Hungarian market of grain processing. The investigation started with dawn raids at the premises of several undertakings where the case handlers collected information relevant to the alleged infringement of national and EU competition law.
