The UK Competition Appeal Tribunal lambasts a retailer by awarding only a fraction of their costs for the main proceedings (Tesco)

The Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) lambasted Tesco Plc (Tesco) for incurring exorbitant costs (£1.46 million) in its successful judicial review of the Competition Commission's (CC) decision to implement a “competition test”. Tesco won its appeal. Nevertheless, the CAT has discretion over the allocation of costs, and decided to only award Tesco £342,000, amount to 23% of Tesco's costs for the main proceedings [1].
