The Romanian Competition Authority releases a report on its sector inquiry into real estate transactions and related services

On 1 April 2008 Romanian Competition Authority (CC) [1] initiated a sector inquiry into the real estate transactions and related services in order to assess competitive conditions on the market and identify potential anticompetitive practices that might require CC's intervention or changes in the sector specific regulation. The CC's report contains assessment of competitive conditions on several markets for particular real estate services. The CC noted that real estate market in Romania is characterized by a high degree of informational asymmetry (lack of information on the part of the buyers), rigid pricing, substantial liquidity fluctuations, lack of transparency and high inefficiencies.
