The Italian Competition Authority closes two investigations against the manager of rail network group without finding any competition infringement (NTV/RFI-Accesso al Nodo di Napoli)

Two investigations conducted by the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) against the incumbent rail operator, the Ferrovie dello Stato group (FS), over alleged infringements of Article 82 EC [1] have been closed by a commitment and an acquittal decision [2]. The ICA started the investigations against FS and its subsidiary, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), the manager of rail network, upon receipt of a complaint filed by Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV) [3]. NTV is a new rail operator that plans to launch in 2011 high speed passenger transport services competing with Trenitalia, the train operator controlled by FS.
