The European Commission («Commission») published in October 2008 its Remedies Notice revising the 2001 Remedies Notice. The Commission in this Notice provides taxonomy of the different types of remedies that it will consider and outlines the procedure of submitting remedies. Taxonomy of Remedies Modifications of concentrations in the process of competition assessment are more commonly described as «remedies» since their object is to eliminate the competition concerns identified by the European Commission. The Commission may attach to its decision conditions and obligations intended to ensure that the undertakings concerned comply with the commitments they have entered into vis-à-vis the Commission with a view to rendering the concentration compatible with the common market.
