The EU Commission consults on draft guidance for "Single Euro Payments Area" (SEPA)

On 3 November 2009, the European Commission announced that it was opening a consultation on a draft guidance document for participants in the Single European Payment Area (SEPA) Direct Debit Scheme, to ensure that the scheme complies with Article 81 EC. The scheme, which was launched on 2 November 2009, allows consumers and businesses to use a pan-European system for cross-border direct debit transactions. Comments can be submitted until 14 December
