The Swedish District Court in Stockholm awards damages for the abuse of a dominant position in the financial services market (Europe Investor Direct / VPC)

Background The Claimants (Europe Investor Direct Aktiebolag, Rutger Kahn Kommanditbolag and OÜ E Direct) provide information to investors on behalf of large listed companies that wish to sell more shares. In order to contact investors, the Claimants had requested registers of shares, containing addresses to the shareholders, from the VPC (Värdepapperscentralen). The VPC is a central securities depository which now is part of Euroclear. It provides services for issuers of financial instruments. The main services cover, for example, the holding of registers of shares, registers of creditors, dividend payments, and other types of corporate actions, such as a rights issue or redemption of shares.
