The Cyprus Commissioner for State Aid Control authorises a draft aid scheme for the provision of aid to farmers affected by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (Aid to livestock farmers)
Factual Background
On 15 November 2007 the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment notified to the Cyprus Commissioner for State Aid Control a draft aid measure, entitled “indemnity/aid to livestock farmers due to foot-and-mouth disease”. The measure aims at indemnifying the livestock farmers who were affected by the measures adopted by the public authorities after the declaration by a Community laboratory of outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus (see Commission Decision of 6 November 2007 concerning certain protection measures against foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus, OJ L 289/45, 07.11.2007).
