It supplies about 20% of the electricity consumed in Great Britain, and accounts for 14% of the generation capacity, with its six nuclear power stations in England and two nuclear power plants in Scotland, together with a coal fired plant in England. BE, which was privatised in 1996, is the only private operator of nuclear plants in the UK, and one of the few private electricity generator in the world relying mainly on nuclear power.
