"Commission confirms its policy line in respect of horizontal agreements on energy efficiency of domestic appliances"* On 14 November 2001, the Competition Directorate-General closed its examination of two agreements concluded under the aegis of and notified by the Conseil Européen de la Construction d’Appareils Domestiques (CECED) [1]. These agreements aim at improving the energy efficiency of, respectively, household dishwashers and water heaters. In both cases, the agreements are entered into by competing manufacturers accounting for a predominant proportion of sales in the Community and/or the Member States. Following the publication of a notice in the OJ pursuant to Article 19(3) of Regulation 17 [2], the cases have been closed by administrative letters. These cases illustrate
