In judgments handed down on 30 April and 22 May 2014, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) dismissed appeals brought by FLSmidth, Plasticos Españoles SA (ASPLA) and ASPLA's parent company Armando Álvarez (Álvarez) against earlier General Court (GC) judgments in the industrial bags cartel case. In November 2005, the European Commission imposed fines totalling € 290.71 million on sixteen manufacturers of industrial plastic bags, including € 15.3 million on Danish engineering company FLSmidth and € 42 million on Spanish companies ASPLA and Álvarez.
