The Slovak Competition Authority fines €1M a railway cargo services operator for abusive commissions (Cargo Slovakia)

In May 2006, the Slovak Antimonopoly Office (“AMO”) published a decision of the second instance fining the railway cargo company Železnicná spolocnost' Cargo Slovakia, a.s. (as a successor of former Železnicná spolocnost', a.s., hereinafter as “ZS”) a total of SKK 37 million (approx. EUR 1 million) for abuse of a dominant position. The decision of the first instance was issued by the AMO in December 2003 in which the AMO imposed to ZS a fine in amount of SKK 90 million (approx EUR 2,4 million).
