The Latvian Competition Authority fines a press operator for abuse of dominant position in the press subscription and delivery markets (Latvijas Pasts)

Introduction It is expected that in the near future the number of cases to be reviewed by the Latvian Competition Council in respect of abuse of the dominant position will increase and become more complicated. However, for the time being in the Competition Council's practice there are no many cases, where abuse of the dominant position would have been successfully established. One of the most interesting cases of such nature is abuse of the dominant position by State Joint Stock Company Latvijas Pasts (Latvijas Pasts). Dominant position in the relevant market Latvijas Pasts takes the dominant position in the press subscription and delivery market both in the relevant regional markets and on the whole territory of Latvia.
