"Commission fines four undertakings a total of € 344.5 million forparticipating in an acrylic glass cartel"* On 31st May 2006 the European Commission imposed fines on Arkema (formerly Atofina), ICI,Lucite and Quinn Barlo (formerly Barlo) for their participation in a hard core cartel. These four companies were fined a total of € 344,562,500. Arkema and ICI had their fines increased as they are repeat offenders. A fifth participant of the cartel, Degussa, also a repeat offender, avoided a fine by receiving full immunity under the Commission’s leniency regime for being first to provide information about the cartel.
