On 23 October 2020, several associations representing various players of the online advertising sector filed a complaint before the French Competition Authority, alleging that Apple abused its dominance on the application distribution market for IOS devices by imposing on app developers supplementary data protection rules; and demanded, in addition, the implementation of urgent interim measures. On 17 March 2021, the Authority decided not to issue interim measures against Apple, but to continue its investigation into the merits of the case .
