The UK Competition Appeal Tribunal dismisses appeal to seek review of the OFT decision concerning extended warranties website (John Lewis)

Background of the case John Lewis plc (“JLP”) case rules out a dispute about the information that should appear on a price comparison website that is related to extended warranties (“EW”) for TVs, washing machines and other domestic electrical goods (“DEGs”). This stems from the Office of Fair Trading’s (“OFT”) Website Decision, where the OFT did not allow certain of JLP’s EWs, that is those EWs that are set out in the price of a DEG (“bundled EWs”), to be listed on the Website. As a consequence, JLP is trying to obtain an order quashing this decision and questions the exercise of a discretion by the OFT so that it seeks a new decision allowing all of JLP’s EW’s (standalone or bundled) to be listed on the Website or if this is not possible, it wishes to allow referring to the provision of bundled
