The Italian Parliament amends turnover thresholds and filing fee duties in merger control

The Italian law has deeply amended the turnover threshold system of the merger filing in Italy. The reform will enter into force for the concentration which will be communicated to the Italian antitrust Authority (“IAA”) from the 1st of January 2013. Up to the 31st December 2012, if a concentration does not have a European dimension, a merger filing is required when: i) the total turnover achieved at a national level by the undertaking concerned is higher than 474 million euro or if the total Italian turnover of the target is higher than 47 million euro.
