The Spanish Competition Commission fines the engineering sectorial and professional associations for issuing price recommendations (TECNIBERIA and CICCP)

On 4 June 2013 the Spanish Competition Commission (“CNC”) adopted a resolution imposing a fine of €400,000 on the Spanish Association of Engineering, Consulting and Technology Firms (Asociación Española de Empresas de Ingeniería, Consultoría y Servicios Tecnológicos, hereafter “TECNIBERIA”) and on the Spanish College of Civil Engineeres (Colegio de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos, hereafter “CICCP”) for issuing price recommendations. The CNC initiated infringement proceedings against TECNIBERIA and CICCP on 14 October 2011 for a possible anti-competitive conduct stemming from the publication and distribution in the website of these entities of two studies.
