The Croatian Parliament adopts amendments to the Competition Act coming into force on the day of accession of Croatia to the EU

On 21 June 2013 the Croatian Parliament adopted Amendments to the Croatian Competition Act (published in Narodne novine no. 80/2013). The Amendments came in force on 1 July 2013, the date of accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union. Although the intention was to incorporate into Croatian legal system provisions from Regulation 1/2003 and Regulation 139/2004, the opportunity was used to make other necessary changes to the existing legislative framework in the area of competition law. After 1 July 2013 the Croatian Competition Agency can, pursuant to Regulation 1/2003, adopt infringement decisions also on the basis of Article 101 and 102 TFEU, and this has been explicitly regulated by the Amendments.
