I. Introduction On 26 June 2008, the Regional Court in Brno cancelled the decision of the President of the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (the „Office«) concerning a well-known, long-running international cartel operating within the sector of gas insulated switchgears («GIS»). Although the decision of the President of the Office dated 26 April 2006 [1] reduced the fines which were imposed by the first instance decision of the Office upon 16 international engineering companies, it still remains to be the highest fine ever imposed in the history of the Office.
