The EU Commission fines a company €242 million for engaging in predatory pricing in the market for 3G baseband chipsets (Qualcomm)

On 18 July 2019, the Commission announced that it had adopted a decision against Qualcomm for abusing a dominant position in the market for 3G baseband chipsets, and imposed a fine of € 242 million. According to the Commission, Qualcomm’s prices to certain key customers were below its costs with the intention of eliminating its competitor Icera. The Commission’s proceedings concerned baseband chipsets
