The EU Court of Justice dismisses appeal in rubber chemicals cartel case (Dow Chemical)

On 18 July 2013, the Court of Justice of the European Union (“ECJ”) dismissed in its entirety an appeal brought by Dow Chemical against a judgment of the General Court (“GC”) which upheld the Commission’s decision in the synthetic rubber cartel. In 2006, The Dow Chemical Company, Dow Deutschland Inc., Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft mbH and Dow Europe GmbH (“Dow”) were fined around € 65 million for their roles in an illegal price-fixing and market-sharing cartel in the Butadiene Rubber
