Background Premiere AG (“Premiere”) is the leading German Pay-TV operator. One of the main features of Premiere's program are live broadcastings of football events. Over the last years, this included in particular broadcastings of the German Bundesliga (football league). However, in September 2005 Unity Media, a large operator of the cable network in the German regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, purchased the broadcast-ing rights for the seasons 2006/2007 to 2008/2009 from the Deutsche Fussball Liga (“DFL”).
