"State aid in feed-in tariffs for green electricity"*Introduction On 7th July 2006 the Commission endorsed a feedin tariff for electricity from renewable sources under the Austrian Green Electricity Act [1]. The case shows how the design of support schemes for green electricity and in particular the national choice of the financing of these schemes influences the assessment whether they involve State aid in the meaning of Article 87(1) EC. The decision confirms the view taken by the Commission already in previous cases [2], but brings together in one decision the reasoning for a wide range of elements which are crucial for the set-up of such support schemes.
