Introduction In April 2019, the Competition Commission of India (“Commission”) had announced a market study into the functioning of ‘E-Commerce’ in India [1]. The focus area of the study was to gather information relating to “trends, practices and issues” [2] which are relevant to the fair and competitive functioning of the market. On 8 January 2020, the report of the market study was published by the Commission. The study was devised as a combination of secondary research, questionnaire survey, focused group discussions (‘FGDs’), one-on-one meetings, a multi-stakeholder workshop and written submissions of stakeholders [3].
